COLD MURDERS: EU Condemns DR Congo Govt’s Lifting of Moratorium on Death Penalty

The European Union (EU) have condemned the Democratic Republic of Congo government’s decision to lift the prohibition of the death penalty which infringes on the human right to life.

Impostor president Fèlix Tshisekedi and his regime have lifted the moratorium on the killing of offenders to target the opposition and its competitors whom they intend to eliminate.

The decision has been taken in the disguise of attempting to lure the Congolese away from rebellion and terrorism as the M23 Rebel Group continue to advance in the east.

The EU Commission has strongly opposed the lift on the serving of the death sentence in a statement released this Monday.

The statement reads;

The European Union deplores the reinstatement of the death penalty in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This decision by the DRC government leads to the lifting of the moratorium on the execution of the death penalty dated 2003.

The EU reaffirms its firm and unequivocal opposition to the use of the death penalty, at any time and in all circumstances. Capital punishment violates the inalienable right to life and is incompatible with human dignity. The death penalty does not have an effective deterrent effect against crime and makes any miscarriage of justice irreversible.

The European Union will continue to work towards the abolition of the death penalty in the few countries that apply it, in line with the growing global trend towards the abandonment of this type of punishment.
