CALL FOR DEMOCRACY: Katumbi’s Ensemble Pour la Republique Denounce Ruling Sacred Union’s Relentless Desire to Have Constitutional Court to Invalidate Their MPs

Opposition Ensemble Pour la Republique party have condemned the ruling Sacred Union party continued pressure on the Constitutional Court to invalidate some of their provisionally elected national deputies in the 2024-2028 legislative elections.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Ensemble Pour la Republique national deputies call on the supreme magistrate and the judges of the Constitutional Court to be patriotic in their application of the law.

“It is clear to date that the sacred union which holds more than 95% of the deputies in the Assembly is attacking the twenty elected representatives of Ensemble et Avançons-MS in trials at the Constitutional Court , to unduly seize the seats that we have acquired with difficulty”, the opposition deputies stated.

The opposition national deputies and allies of Moïse Katumbi gathered today to dissect the current situation in the country following the elections of December 20.

At the same occasion, the national deputies called for the release of political prisoners Salomon Idi Kalonda, Mike Mukebayi Nkoso, Jean-Marc Kabund, Papy Mpungu, Apostle Christian Numbi, journalist Stany Bujakera and many others.

In addition, opposition elected officials demand an end to the prosecutions orchestrated against opponents with the aim of weakening them.
