Democratic Republic of Congo dictator Felix Tshisekedi has awarded himself a honorary degree from the University of Kinshasa.
He has received condemnation from Congolese educationists.
One author opined, “According to the rule, a Doctor honoris causa degree is not awarded to the
President of the Republic by a university in his country when he is in office.
“The President is the grand chancellor of universities (i.e. number 1 of all universities
in the country) and the Rectors act in his name. So, at Unikin, the President awarded himself a diploma.
“Another mistake: he was made to wear an Ordinary Teachers’ toga with 3 bars, the highest grade.
“However, for Honoris Causa the toga does not have a promotion bar. It’s all fake.”
President Tshisekedi has become increasingly desperate as the country heads to the 2023 polls set for December 20, 2023.
Tshisekedi does not have a traceable record of a post high school qualification but claims to have gone to college in Belgium where he also went to secondary school.
