BENI CRISIS: Uganda Rebels Kill 21 In East Congo

With Uganda soldiers taking over Bunagana in the name of maintaining peace in east Congo, a rebel group affiliated to Kampala continues to wreck havoc in the war-torn east Congo with 21 killed today.

The Ugandan rebels ADF (Allied Democratic Forces) pounced on civilians in Oïcha, capital of the territory of Beni in North Kivu where they have been causing massive destruction.

The civil society say the killing took place in the village of Musandaba among the Batangi-Mbau group who were the target.

Sources have told local media that 21 bodies were collected on the morning of April 8, 2023.

Darius Syayira, Oicha’s first core civil society rapporteur, also confirmed the news. Most of those killed are residents of the town of Oicha, who had gone there for rural activities.

These civilians were executed on the afternoon of Friday April 7, as they were returning from their fields.
