ASSAULTED: War-Ravaged Ituri Youths Beat Up Representative For Seeking Re-Election

Youths in the war ravaged Ituri have beaten up an elected official for seeking re-election.

Dieudonné Mutanjala, an elected official from Djugu, wanted to file for one of the available positions in the area, but was met with resistance.

Mutanjala wanted to submit his candidacy, but the youths had cautioned those who were seeking re-election not to, failure to which they faced unspecified consequences.

All the elected officials ushered in office in 2018 in Ituri are unwanted have been asked not to stand again in 2023.
