The former minister of transport, who quit President Felix Tshisekedi’s government to focus on the opposition Together for the Republic where he was in charge of communication and media and also doubled as party spokesperson, was kidnapped at the Constitutional Court in Kinshasa.

A group of men in civilian clothes approached Okende at the Constitutional Court where he had gone to file a matter in response to a request by the court.

By the time his close guards came in to where he had gone to drop off the letter, Okende and his car was missing with his phones switched off.

Ensemble pour la République president Moise Katumbi, who had traveled to Côte d’Ivoire for a CAF meeting, has cut short his trip and will return home to attend to the matter.
