Yesterday Switzerland removed 2 individuals from its DRC sanctions list, Emmanuel Ramazani Shadary and Kalev Mutondo (notice), who were originally listed for committing acts that constitute serious human rights violations or abuses in the DRC.
The EU delisted Mr Shadary and Mr Mutondo on 19 June 2023 following the annulment of their designations by the General Court, which held that the EU Council had not established a sufficient link between Mr Shadary and Mr Mutondo and the security situation in the DRC.
Shadary was the candidate for the FCC coalition led by former president Joseph Kabila when they lost power in the 2018 presidential election.
