ARRESTS IN GOMA: Senior Congolese Intelligence Agency Officials Arrested And Transferred to Kinshasa

The provincial director of the National Intelligence Agency (ANR) and his two deputies as well as North-Kivu Province governor’s have been arrested in Goma for alleged complicity with the M23 rebellion, supported by Rwanda.

The arrested officials have since been transferred to the capital Kinshasa as ordered by the the General Directorate of Military Intelligence.

According to sources, the officials have been cited for allegedly “collaborating with the enemy” and were apprehended for the purposes of an ongoing investigation.

Currently, the officials are being kept in custody at the headquarters of the General Staff of Military Intelligence with sources revealing that that if investigations establish evidence of complicity, these people will be brought to justice.

Tension continues to rise in the eastern part of the country as Congolese army (FARDC) clash with the M23 rebels who have occupied several towns near the city of Goma.
