ANOTHER POSSIBLE FREE THREE POINTS FOR LEOPARDS: Congolese Football Association File Appeal Against Sudan For Using Ineligible Player

After having won their case against Mauritania for a similar offence in the Africa Cup qualifiers, the Leopards could win another set of free points.

The Democratic Republic of Congo’s football federation FECOFA have filed a complaint to FIFA against Sudan who are said to have used an ineligible player in the two sides’ 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier played in Libya earlier this month.

Sudan beat the Leopards 1-0 in Benghazi on November 19 in what was the two nation’s second Group B World Cup qualification fixture.

According to FECOFA, midfielder Jusif Ali who came off bench for the hosts in the 86th minute, had used a Finnish passport instead of one issued by Sudan thus not eligible to play in the match.

Ali, 23, was born in Finland from a Sudanese father and recently opted to represent the Falcons of Jedian at international level.

In an event of a favorable verdict from world football governing body, DR Congo would go top of Group B with six points ahead of favourites and current log leaders Senegal in the World Cup qualification race.
