Democratic Republic of Congo’s ruling party UDPS Secretary General Augustin Kabuya has been sacked from his role following a unanimous decision by members of the executive branch as the national executives move to replace the party’s leadership.
At the conclusion of the party’s extraordinary session held on Sunday in Kinshasa, the UDPS decided to relieve Augustin Kabuya of his duties as Secretary General of the party after analyzing the reports of the mediation commission and the disciplinary commission on the crisis which has recently shaken the party.
“Mr. Augustin Kabuya Tshilumba is relieved of his duties as Secretary General of the Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS/Tshisekedi). He remains a full member of the party and exercises, without interruption, his mandate as national deputy,” indicates the minutes of the extraordinary session.
Kabuya has been close aide of President Félix Tshisekedi and his evil mother, Maman Marthé who has been at loggerheads with her daughter-in-law and first lady Denise Nyakeru over possession of several mineral concessions in the DR Congo.
Kabuya has been criticized for neglecting management of the party while he focuses on his personal ambitions and those of the Tshisekedis.
Sources have revealed that the national executives will now move to oust Tshisekedi as president the party.
