TSHISEKEDI GOES MISSING: DR Congo President’s Whereabouts Unknown For the Past Four Days

Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is in the dark about the whereabouts of its President Fèlix Tshisekedi who has not appeared in public for the past four days.

Tshisekedi was last seen on Sunday at Kinshasa’s Ndjili International Airport from where he flew out of the DRC to a destination still unknown.

There has been a total “blackout” so far on Tshisekedi’s whereabouts with the government having not issued any statement.

On Monday, Tshisekedi’s spokesperson Tina Salama could not give sufficent information about the president’s whereabouts and simply indicated that he had traveled out for “urgent matters related to the country.”

Initially reports indicated that Tshisekedi had been bound for Kigali, Rwanda where he was to attend the commemoration of the 1994 genocide, information that was later denied by the presidential spokeswoman.

The public continues to speculate about Tshisekedi’s mysterious journey to a destination still unknown.

Some suggest that he has traveled to Rwanda to seek dialogue for a ceasefire with that country’s President Paul Kagame amidst tensions between the countries.

Others claim that Tshisekedi may have traveled to Brussels, Belgium where he would be receiving medical attention.
