The brother of LGD opposition leader, Augustin Matata Mapon, has been left for dead after UDPS supporters attacked him at his residence in Lubumbashi.
Matata Tambwe was badly assaulted in the early hours of Sunday and left nearly lifeless.
His older brother, a former Prime Minister and one of the main opposition leaders in the country, confirmed the incident which he posted on his twitter handle.
“My little brother Matata Tambwe, OGEFREM agent was beaten up in his house this Sunday night around 1:30 in Lubumbashi on the grounds of being brother of Matata who fights the Tshisekedi Regime. The armed assailants wanted to kill him. Now all the Matata are in danger in the DRC,” Augustin Matata Mapon lamented.
The DRC is degenerating into chaos under President Félix Tshisekedi who has created an armed militia that is terrorizing his opponents.
Some of the armed militias are also official members of the Congolese army.
