DR Congo’s Minister of Budget for the state Aimé Boji Sangara is facing ejection from his role after being subject of a motion of no confidence in the National Assembly.
Boji has come under scrutiny for having executed the 2023 National Budget, which was marred by several irregularities.
At least 53 national deputies have since signed a vote of no confidence against Boji who is now looking likely to leave his post.
Boji has also being cited in a written question at the Bureau of the National Assembly submitted by Janvier Msenyibwa Apele, the elected national deputy of Fizi in South Kivu, who expressed concern over the reduction in the budget allocation for the justice sector in the draft amending finance law for the 2024 financial year.
This was at a time when the 2,500 new magistrates recruited since November 2, 2022 had not yet been funded by the State.
According to another national deputy, Christian Mwando, more than 50% of the expenditure of the 2023 budget had been executed by simple letters which was in great disregard of the expenditure chain.
