THREATS AND INTIMIDATION: Kinshasa Governorate Candidate Reproaches Augustin Kabuya For Manipulation of Provincial Deputies Ahead of Elections

Kinshasa governor candidate Adam Bombole has spoken strongly against the attempts by ruling UDPS party Secretary General Augustin Kabuya to manipulate provincial deputies ahead of the upcoming governarate elections.

Kabuya has recently been heard issuing threats and comments likely to intimidate the provincial deputies’ choice of governor in the upcoming elections.

“The pressure, intimidation, harassment and threats amount to a lack of consideration and a violation of rights,” Bombole wrote on X.

In responding to Kabuya’s recent comments, Bambole adds that; “provincial deputies have their free conscience”.

In front of his party members, Kabuya threatened to mobilize supporters of the ruling party to besiege the provincial assembly of Kinshasa on the day of voting for the governor and vice-governor.

Kabuya has swore to perform this act as a way of getting provincial deputies to vote for the candidate standing on his party’s ticket.

This initiative has been condemned Bombole who believes that “the mandate of an elected representative of the people (national deputies, provincial deputies, senators) is not imperative”.
