Katangese politician Jean-Claude Muyambo Kyassa has announced he will challenge President Felix Tshisekedi in the December 20, 2023 presidential and general elections.
Muyambo announced at a press briefing he was effectively withdrawing from the Sacred Union which was an alliance that supported President Tshisekedi.
The President of the Congolese Solidarity and Development (SCODE) said time had come for him to challenge the president to contribute to the development of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Muyombo becomes the second politician after former Katanga governor Moise Katumbi also pulled out of the alliance.
