PLANE ACCIDENT: Three Escape Unhurt In Kasese Plane Accident

Three people have survived a air accident in which an IMI Aviation Agency plane rolled over upon landing on Sunday, 21 January 2024 in Kasese locality of Punia town in Maniema Province.

The aircraft involved, a Cessna 208 Caravan registered 5Y-SPZ, was carrying out a passenger flight between Goma and Kasese, carrying three people on board.

According to eye witnesses, the plane slid upon landing before rolling over, with the three occupants fortunately found unharmed.

Meanwhile, the Aviation Safety Network (ASN), a site of the Flight Safety Foundation, which provides data on airliner accidents and safety issues, revealed that the aircraft had already been involved in another incident back in July 2023 in Kenya.

The plane, while carrying Azimio politicians, had suffered a tire burst, causing it to deviate from the Kakuma airstrip.

Due to its isolation and the impassability of its roads, Kasese largely depends on air transport for the supply of basic necessities.
