PATHETIC CONDITIONS: Tshisekedi Throws Reuters Correspondent, Stanis Bujakera, In Filthy Police Cells

After visiting Reuters and Jeune Afrique correspondent, Stanis Bujakera, in police cells, fellow journalist Peter Tiani writes

“The credible Journalist
@StanysBujakera spends his second
night at the Kinshasa Provincial Police Inspectorate in unsavory conditions. After visiting it last night, I am very disappointed in view of all this fight led for change in my Country and especially the work that our colleague is doing. I denounce the undermining of press freedom in the country of Lumumba and Etienne Tshisekedi. What a step back! Free.”

Bujakera was thrown in cells on allegations he authored a false article that linked President Felix Tshisekedi and his family to the death of opposition Ensemble pour la République spokesperson Chérubin Okende.

Okende was assassinated on July 13, 2023, 24 hours after he was kidnapped from the premises of the Constitutional Court.
