ON THE OFFENSIVE: Tshisekedi Attacks Rwanda On 63rd Independence Anniversary

President Félix Tshisekedi has repeated his venomous attack on Rwanda accusing the eastern neighbors of causing insecurity in the country.

Addressing the nation on television, President Tshisekedi said the government will continue to maintain peace and promote security by dealing with “any belligerent adventure on Congolese soil,” warning that such acts is suicidal for anyone who attempts it.

President Tshisekedi admitted that the DRC was celebrating its 63 years of independence against a background of insecurity and sadness.

“It is true that this year the celebration of independence is tinged with sadness because our territorial integrity is threatened by a foreign occupying force,” he said.

“Our country has been facing for many months in its eastern part, a vile and barbaric aggression perpetrated by a belligerent neighbor Rwanda, in the name of obscure and despicable interests.”

Rwanda has repeatedly denied funding M23 rebels also accusing Tshisekedi of being inept in his administration of national affairs.
