NORTH KIVU ATTACKS: Congo Army Denounce Civilian Killing

The Congolese army has denounced attacks by the M23 on civilian homes in Sake in which four civilians were killed and six injured on March 11.

Today, rebels killed 19 people in senseless attacks just a week after 35 were murdered.

The Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (Fardc), which is failing to protect its people, has denounced the continuation of the ongoing attacks by the Rwandan Army and its M23 substitutes on civilian positions in North Kivu.

“Indeed, these terrorists piled on Sake’s 120mm mortar. The preliminary count says four civilians were killed and six others injured,” the statement reads.

It continue: “The belligerent and barbaric attitude of the Rwandan army constitutes not only a clear and intentional violation of international humanitarian law, but also a front towards the international community, the African Union and sub-regional organizations”

In this statement, the Fardc reserve the right to put everything to protect the population and defend the integrity of the national territory.

Recall that these bombings have already killed at least 7 civilians and wounded a dozen in the Sake and Mubambiro outskirts, Kamuronza group in Masisi territory territory.
