MORE FAKE PROMISES: At His Inauguration, Tshisekedi Admits He Failed In First Term But Promises To Correct Mistakes

After a disastrous first five-year term of office, Fèlix Tshisekedi still managed to manouvre his way back into power for another term in which he promises to own up to the mistakes.

Tshisekedi was on Saturday, 20th January 2024 sworn in for his second term of office at a ceremony held at the Pentecost Martyrs Stadium in the DR Congo capital Kinshasa.

At the ceremony attended by a decent crowd, Tshisekedi promised to transform the country in his new term after an failing to meet the people’s expectations in the first term.

Tshisekedi recalled six major commitments that he had failed to address and promises to finally deliver on them in his new mandate.

The six priorities include job creation, improving purchasing power, strengthening security, diversifying the economy, increasing access to basic services and improving the efficiency of public services.

“Now, it is for us to transform, over the next five years, the feats that we have achieved and to complete the advent of a more united, better secure and more prosperous Congo,” Tshisekedi told the citizenry.

Tshisekedi’s first term of office saw the country plunged into its worst economic state in history with corruption and embezzlement of public funds reaching its peak.
