KATUMBI, FAYULU, MUKWENGE & OTHERS: Leading Opposition Candidates In Upcoming DRC Elections Request Electoral Commission To Publish Voter Register

Seven opposition candidates in the upcoming 2023 General Elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo have called on the electoral commission, CENI, to publish the full list of registered voters ahead of the 20 December polls.

In a joint-statement, the opposition candidates including favourites Moïse Katumbi, Martin Fayulu and Dr Dénis Mukwenge have requested the CENI to release the voter register in line with the commission’s commitment to ensure a free and fair election.

Others opposition candidates that appended their signatures on the statement released on Tuesday include, Delly Sesanga, Seth Kikuni, Franck Diongo and Marie Josée Ifoku.

Meanwhile, the opposition candidates are also demanding for all polling stations countrywide to be listed and mapped out before going to the polls.

Dialogue between CENI President Dénis Kadima Kazadi and the stakeholders or candidates is also amongst the presidential bidders’ demands tabled before the commission.

The opposition candidates’ joint-statement comes a day after the Congolese Constitutional Court officially confirmed and validated the candidacies of all 25 candidates in the running for president.
