Zambian and TP Mazembe football star Rainford Kalaba has been involved in a fatal car accident which claimed the life of one and left the latter in stable but critical condition.
Kalaba sustained severe fractures and concussion in the accident and was rushed to the University Teaching Hospital ICU.
The accident happened in Zambia’s Kafue district on Saturday afternoon when a Mercedes Benz, with Kalaba on board, collided with an heavy weight truck.
The driver of the Mercedes-Benz, identified as Charlene Mumba succumbed to her injuries and died on the scene of the accident.
As of Sunday night, Kalaba was able to make slight body movements although his condition critical with the medical team confident his condition will improve.
Kalaba who retired from football late last year had returned to Zambia where he was attending training course to obtain his CAF C coaching license.
