Congolese top-flight giants AS Vita Club’s former coach Florent Ibenge has opened up on the reasons behind his unceremonious departure from the club two years ago.
The Franco-Congolese gaffer led the Black Dolphins to three Congolese Ligue 1 titles as well as finals for both the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup competitions between 2014 and 2018.
However, the former DR Congo national team gaffer parted ways with Vita in June, 2021 after a mixed campaign for the club that season.
Now in charge of Sudanese giants Al Hilal Omdurman, Ibenge has revealed that there was tension between himself and club chair lady Bestine Kazadi who initiated his exit from the club.
“Bestine Kazadi pushed me out the door. She felt betrayed, I felt fired. I didn’t even discuss my contract in Rabat, I was disgusted because I was free without a contract, following Madame Bestine Kazadi’s tweet announcing my departure from Vita” Ibenge told Top Congo in an interview.
Ibenge currently stands as Vita’s most successful coach in the club history as well as the DR Congo having led the Leopards to a third place finish at the AFCON in 2015 and the CHAN title in 2016.
