Democratic Republic of Congo’s leading opposition Ensemble Pour la Republique leader Moïse Katumbi is being targeted by the Congolese government of Félix Tshisekedi.
This Thursday night, Tshisekedi has ordered his a battalion of armed military personnel to be deployed at Katumbi farm and private residence, situated in Futuka, Haut-Katanga Province.
Sources have revealed that the military were ordered to camp and conduct surveillance at Katumbi’s property after reports of the leading opposition leader’s return to the DR Congo surfaced.
“Soldiers are currently positioned in front of the farm shed, as well as at various strategic points, notably near the outside tap, the old garage and in their vehicles. For now, they haven’t made any statement.,” a source at the location has confirmed.
The Congolese government have linked Katumbi and former republican president Joseph Kabila, who is also back in the DR Congo, to the AFC/M23 rebel movement.
