About seven presidential candidates in the Democratic Republic of Congo are set to meet and pick a common candidate.
The meeting is set for South Africa next week. The leading candidates include popular Ensemble pour la Republique president Moise Katumbi, independents Dr. Denis Mukwege and Seth Kikuni, former Prime Minister Augustin Matata Mapon, Martin Fayulu of Ecide and Envol’s Delly Sessanga.
According to an article by Jeune Afrique, the format of the dialogue will take place in two stages.
A meeting billed for South Africa between two delegates from each of the candidates will engage in the formation of the negotiation process.
The meeting of representatives is expected to culminate into the main meeting that will bring the seven candidates together.
Official campaign period starts on November 19, 2023 for the elections set for December 20, 2023.
