CHAOS: Opposition Candidate Petitions Constitution Court To Disqualify Tshisekedi

A day after a ruling party surrogate filed a petition to the Constitution Court to challenge the candidature of popular Ensemble pour la République leader Moise Katumbi, an opposition leader Seth Kikuni has also filed a petition before the same court request the disqualification of incumbent President Felix Tshisekedi.

Kikuni filed his challenge on Monday, October 23, 2023 citing various irregularities which declares Tshisekedi’s candidature inadmissible.

On Saturday, a Kasai and tribesmate of Tshisekedi, Tshivuadi Mansanga Junior, petitioned the candidature of Katumbi for disqualification at the Constitution Court.

Sources disclosed that Tshivuadi was hired by the Presidency to eliminate the strongest opposition candidate using the Constitution Court.

With the two petitions, the race for president of the Democratic Republic of Congo is headed for a legal showdown before the voters are given the opportunity to elect their candidate on December 20, 2023.
