BACK ON THE SCORESHEET: Yoane Wissa Ends Goal Drought

Congolese international striker Yoane Wissa ended his nine-game goal scoring drought in the Premier League over the weekend as he netted Brentford’s second in the 2-0 victory over West Ham United in a Round 36 clash.

Wissa marked his 14th start of the 2022/23 campaign at the Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday and got his name on the scoresheet for the fifth time in the Premier League his season.

The Bees opened the scores through Cameroonian international Bryan Mbuemo in the 20th minute to silence the visiting Hammers.

Wissa would then add to his side’s advantage just two minutes to the break as he nodded into the back of the net after connecting from a flicked header by defender Ben Mee.

It was Wissa’s first goal since 15 March when he scored in Brentford’s 2-0 victory over Southampton at Saint Mary’s Stadium.

The French-born marksman played until the 77th minute when he was substituted for Josh Dasilva as the Bees held on to secure yet another important victory.

The Bees currently occupy 9th position on the Premier League with 53 points and will be away at Tottenham Hotspur in their next fixture.
