Fanfare & excitement characterized yesterday’s inaugural TP Mazembe Day in which the African football giant showcased its latest acquisitions ahead of the new season.
Club president Moise Katumbi was present to welcome TP Mazembe fans and thousands Katangese who pitched up for the event.
The 25, 000 seater was filled to capacity as the two time African champions displayed what to expect this season.
A visit by Zambian giants Nkana who are based in Kitwe made an interesting addition to the activities of the day.
Mazembe played two match with Nkana fielding a variety of players.
The two team’s B sides settled for a goalless draw while the A team for Mazembe were 2-0 winners over Nkana.
TP Mazembe will launch their CAF Champions League assignment next week with a date against Red Arrows at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Meanwhile, Katumbi who was joined by his special advisor who is now a senator Salomon Kalonda, urged Mazembe faithfuls and all Congolese to continue rallying their team.
