DRC NO. SIX: The Hour For A Katumbi’s Presidency Draws Near

The Democratic Republic of Congo is bracing for change as former Katanga businessman Moise Katumbi leads the charge in public opinion polls.

Katumbi is way ahead of incumbent President Felix Tshisekedi in polls conducted countrywide. However, there are widespread fears the election will be rigged and violence will escalate.

The wealthy businessman is among a field of opposition leaders challenging Tshisekedi.

Nobel Peace Prize laureate Dr Denis Mukwege, former Prime Minister Augustin Matata Mapon and ex-oil executive Martin Fayulu are also challenging Tshisekedi.

Katumbi is expected to file his nomination papers in Kinshasa anytime this week.
