CHEAP EMPTY THREATS: A Year of Unfulfilled Tshisekedi Words

On the date of 19th December 2023, the people of the Democratic Republic of Congo were assured by its leader Félix Tshisekedi Tshilombo who swore to protect the population and the territory from Rwanda invasion.

While addressing the nation in Kinshasa, Tshisekedi issued a firm warning to his Rwanda counterpart Paul Kagame against invading Congolese territory.

He threatened to launch a “marshal skirmish” attack on Rwanda in case it had invaded Congolese territory or caused insecurities for the population in the eastern region.

Yesterday, Thursday 19th December 2024 marked exactly a year since Tshisekedi made those bold statements which have turned out to be nothing but cheap talk with no action.

Today, Rwanda has through the M23 rebels gained massive control of larger parts of North Kivu including areas such as Lubero.

The Congolese population are plunged into excessive insecurities on a daily basis with Tshisekedi continuing on his trend of cheap talking without any action.

Tshisekedi is now having his hand bended into negotiating with M23 rebels by Rwanda who have set that condition in order for Kagame to come to the dialogue table.

The Kasai gentleman has clearly failed to protect the country and his people.
