Alliance Fleuve du Congo (AFC) and M23 rebel coalition leader Corneille Nangaa has threatened to take control of the North Kivu Province capital Goma’s international airport in the next few days.
Nangaa and the M23/AFC elements have gained major control of North Kivu in the wake of renewed fighting in the eastern region.
The former president of the Independent Electoral Commission (CENI) has now confirmed his next target to seize will be the strategic points of the North Kivu capital.
Nangaa has once again warned president Félix Tshisekedi he will continue to capture more territories and advance into Kinshasa where he will eventually oust him from power.
The M23/AFC recently gained over 50% of the North Kivu region after managing to seize the city of Katale which is a central point of the territories of Masisi and Walikale.
