BANDITS: Police Arrest Dangerous Criminals In Lubumbashi

With the rise in insecurity in Lubumbashi, security agencies are trying to step up and restore the confidence of the population especially in Haut-Katanga.

A couple of days ago, police on patrol engaged in fierce gunfire with armed bandits in Lubumbashi.

The thieves disguised themselves as taxi drivers.

They appeared to be taxi drivers and members of ACCO (Congo Drivers Association) operating from Lipamu Parking Lot in Lubumbashi downtown area which is diagonally opposite to the Post Office.

These armed bandits taxi drivers were cornered on Boulevard Moïse Katumbi at the intersection with Avenue de la Francophonie as they attempted to embark on their night ride.

A tip from the public alerted security agencies who had been trailing the operations and they immediately swung into action.

Following an fierce exchange of gunfire between the security services and the bandits, these drivers at the root of several cases of kidnapping and disappearance succumbed.

The armed bandits who are known members of the ACCO in the city center of Lubumbashi were ferried to the police and will face justice.

Lubumbashi has been subject of rising insecurity with kidnappings, disappearance and killings the order of the day.
