APPROVED: Martyrs Stadium Declared Fit By CAF

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has approved the Pentecost Martyrs Stadium in Kinshasa to host international matches.

The approval comes after a visit from a team CAF inspectors from Uganda who examined the facility following rehabilitation works that had been done in the build up to the Francophonie IX Games.

This latest development means the Leopards will be able to host Sudan at the 80,000 capacity arena in their final Group I Ivory Coast 2023 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations qualifier set for next month.

The Leopards had to play their last AFCON qualification home fixture against Mauritania in Douala, Cameroon after the Kinshasa sports arena failed to meet CAF required standards to host international matches.

Notwithstanding the good news, rehabilitation works still ongoing at the Pentecost Martyrs Stadium will have to continue as the arena will be inspected by FIFA before the start of 2026 World Cup qualifiers in November.
