Opposition common candidate Moïse Katumbi’s arrival in Kalemie of Tanganyika Province has sent the city into a frenzy with throngs of highly expectant residents leaving their businesses to meet the incoming President.
The jet carrying Katumbi and his ally Augustin Matata Ponyo touched down at Kalemie Airport at 12:00 hours this Wednesday afternoon with an overwhelming crowd receiving the opposition coalition partners.
With literally no passage for him motorcade due to the massive crowds on the roads, Katumbi and his entourage had to complete the rest of their procession on foot.
In a huge statement of his committment to delivering to the people, Katumbi and residents of Kalemie crossed through the newly constructed Lukunga River Bridge.
The bridge was recently constructed by Katumbi who came to the aid of the people of Kalemie after years of struggling to negotiate past the makeshift bridge that had been set up.
Katumbi is currently addressing thousands of locals who have gathered at a rally being held in the centre of the city.
