STALEMATE IN EL CLASSIQUE: Vita & Mazembe Share Spoils in Ligue 1 Play-Off Encounter

Congolese giants AS Vita Club and TP Mazembe played out to a barren draw in fiercely contested Ligue 1 play-off encounter at the Stade de Martyrs in Kinshasa on Tuesday.

Despite several opportunities created by both sides, the Congolese classic or “El Classique” failed to produce a winner as it ended in a goalless draw under the scorching Kinshasa sun.

After yesterday’s draw, Vita and Mazembe both missed out on the opportunity to move closer to the top of the table for the play-offs, currently occupied by Aigles du Congo, AS Maniema Union, and CS Don Bosco.

With this result, the Black Dolphins (Vita) and the Ravens of Lubumbashi remain in 5th and 6th position in the championship, with 12 and 10 points respectively.

Aigles du Congo and AS Maniema Union all have 18 points each while Don Bosco has 16 points.
