The DR Congo Boxing Leopards (national team) has won eight medals at the just ended international boxing tournament held in Luanda, Angola.
The tournament, hosted from May 21 to 25 by the Angolan government, was part of the celebrations to mark Angola’s 50th independence anniversary.
Out of the ten Congolese boxers competing in the women’s and men’s categories, eight managed to stand on the podium, as they claimed a total of eight medals, distributed as follows:
4 gold medals
2 silver medals
2 bronze medals
The Congolese boxer’s performance confirmed the rise of the DR Congo on the African boxing scene.

Individual distinctions
Among the individual honors, Merveille Mbalayi was voted the best female athlete of the tournament, a true recognition of her talent and commitment in the ring.
The Congolese delegation is expected to return Kinshasa this Tuesday, May 26 before begining preparations for the Libreville International Tournament, scheduled for July 10-21, 2025.
The Libreville International Tournament will be held in tribute to former Gabonese President Omar Bongo Ondimba.
