RUTO ON DRC: East African Army Will Not Leave Congo, “DRC Problem Is Our Problem”

Kenyan President William Ruto has rejected the timeline given to the East African Community army that peace keeping troops should vacate east Congo by October.

Speaking to France 24, Ruto says although the DRC no longer wants the EAC force, it was practically impossible to abandon the mission as is.

“We will not distance ourselves from the people of the DRC. The problem of the DRC is our problem.

“We cannot continue to turn a blind eye. That is why the region has decided to intervene,” said Ruto.

Various rebel groups are stationed in the DRC with the M23 allegedly sponsored by Rwanda and the ADF as an annex of the Islamic State continue to inflict massive harm on the population.
