REBELS ADVANCE AGAIN: M23 Seize Strategic Town of Masisi

The town of Katale in the Masisi territory of North Kivu Province has been seized by the rampant M23 rebels.

The rebels seized the region after intense fighting with the regular DRC army (FARDC) troops on Friday afternoon.

Footage shared on social media show the civilian population fleeing the city of Katale in one direction following the entry of Corneille Nangaa’s men into the region.

Katale was the last obstacle erected by the FARDC before Masisi Centre located a few kilometers away.

Just less than three days ago, the M23 also seized Lukopfu and Kaniro, two villages in Masisi
