Two people have been confirmed dead after brutal ruling party UDPS youths attacked their Union of Nationalists and Federalists of Congo (UNAFEF) counterparts in Lubumbashi on Thursday.
According to local authorities, activists from these two political parties, members of the Sacred Union of the Nation, are fighting over space in bus stops to collect taxes.
The police say the clashes began last Monday and disrupted daily activities in the Kilobelobe district, located in the annex town.
A few months ago, 50 UNAFEC youths were killed by a battalion of commandos stationed in Lubumbashi by President Felix Tshisekedi to keep vigil of a feared Katanga uprising.
