The rampant M23 rebels’ have made a significant advancement in North Kivu after managing to seize the town of Katale which is a strategic point in North Kivu Province’s Masisi territory.
Jvenal Munubo, a local National Deputy, has since warned of the vulnerability the Congo army (FARDC) finds itself in while trying to stop the rebels from advancing into other strategic territories.
Munubo has expressed concern over the ever growing threat posed by the M23 in the region for their control of Katale gives them major control of North Kivu.
“The capture of Katale increases the enemy threat to Masisi-centre, neighboring the territory of Walikale. It is urgent that the FARDC and the resistant patriots redouble their efforts to repel them and pacify the East,” he declared.
The FARDC troops have so far not been able to contain the M23 in the recent renewed fighting in the eastern region.
