Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni says Félix Tshisekedi must swallow his pride and dialogue with the M23 rebel group as the ongoing fighting in east is a political issue.
Museveni said this following the recent intensified fighting between the M23 rebels and the Congolese Armed Forces (FARDC) in North Kivu.
He added that the Ugandan government have advised Tshisekedi to prioritize the Congolese population and find a solution to the ongoing war in the east.
“The M23 is a political problem that can be resolved through dialogue (…) we asked Tshisekedi to negotiate with them.”
M23 rebels have gone on rampage over the past weeks seizing several towns in key areas of North Kivu province where they have gained major control.
