BENZ IN KIN: Tshisekedi Officiates At Launch Of Mercedes Benz Assembly Plant

President Félix Tshisekedi yesterday officiated at the launch of a Mercedes Benz assembly plant in Kinshasa.

This comes 31 years after the departure of the American General Motors and the German automobile brand Mercedes Benz plants in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The franchise of the luxurious automobile is owned by businessman Harish Jagtani who has established the plant in the Limete industrial district in Kinshasa.

President Felix Tshisekedi inaugurated the plant and expressed optimism about Congo’s future.

The plan is expected to assemble Mercedes Benz buses with a capacity of 49 seats model while the second model will be a 39 seater.

The Limete factory will also provide after sales factory and is expected to produce 25 buses a
month and employ 500 workers.
