A RECORD FAILURE: Under Tshisekedi The Dollar Rate Has Hit Its Highest Figure In Congolese History

President Fèlix Tshisekedi has set for himself an unwanted record in the history of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Tshisekedi stands as the president in whose reign the Congolese Franc has performed the worst against the American dollar.

The dollar rate now currently sits at a record CFC 2730 which is the worst performance by the currency since 2001 in the DRC.

At the time of his inauguration in 2018, Tshisekedi found the dollar had been selling at CFC 1600 but it has since skyrocketted by 58% as at now.

The depreciation of the Congolese currency is one of the indications of the economic troubles that the DRC has been faced with under Tshisekedi’s reign.

Meanwhile, Tshisekedi has recently acknowledged his failure to stabilize the value of the Congolese currency and promises to drop the rate if re-elected.
