Lubumbashi giants TP Mazembe players have returned to their base ahead of the start of preparations for the upcoming 2023/24 football season.
Mazembe have been on break since May following the premature cessation of the 2022/23 football season in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
However, technical bench led by Senegalese coach Lamine N’diaye as well as the contingent of foreign players have since returned to Lubumbashi as of yesterday with training scheduled to start on Monday at the TP Mazembe Stadium.
Having already confirmed the departures of long-serving defender Issama Mpeko, Ivorian midfielder Christian Kouame, Armedee Masasi as well as club legend Rainford Kalaba who has retired from active football, Mazembe are also set to announce their newly recruited players on Tuesday.
Mazembe are looking to revitalize their roaster in a bid for improved results following a difficult season in the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup where they were knocked out at the group stage last season.
New coach Lamine N’diaye has returned to Mazembe having led the Congolese giants to the Champions League title in the 2009/10 campaign during his first stint at the club and will be aiming rekindle the club’s fortunes once again.
Mazembe are later on Wednesday expected to to head to their training base situated just outside Lubumbashi at CEF Futuka for their first pre-season camp.
