A great political rivalry which could potentially break apart Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) President Félix Tshisekedi’s government is ensuing right under his cabinet as he continues to struggle to provide leadership and authority even after seven years in power.
According to several sources within the ruling party UDPS, Minister of Finance Likunde Doudou Fwamba is preparing to launch a political challenge against his superior, the Prime Minister Judith Suminwa Tuluka.
Leaked information suggests that Doudou Fwamba who is eyeing the Suminwa’s Prime Minister role, has already started distributing money to various structures within the ruling UDPS party to solicit support for his greedy political ambitions.
A number of senior party officials, close to President Tshisekedi, as well as influential figures in government have all been offered bribes by Doudou Fwamba who aims to attract support in his quest to replace Suminwa in the Prime Minister’s office.
Increasingly ambitious, Doudou Fwamba appears to have been intoxicated by money and power and is determined to give up on his quest to rise to the highest political offices.
Worse still, some sources report that Doudou Fwamba has also openly made his intentions of presidential ambitions and is even considering succeeding Tshisekedi, a path to which he considers navigable given the Head of State’s continue loss of political influence and popularity.
