Former Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) president Joseph Kabila Kabange has castigated current President Félix Tshisekedi and his government for being responsible for the current crisis the nation faces due to their insatiable appetite to hold on to power forever.
As earlier announced, the former head of state addressed the nation in a highly anticipated speech in which he painted a bleak picture of the overall situation in the DR Congo six years after his departure from power.
According to him, the rapid deterioration of the situation in the DR Congo is mainly due to the current leaders’ intoxication with and appetite for limitless power.
“This rapid deterioration of the country’s general situation is mainly due to the intoxication of unlimited power. The new leaders are distinguished, in fact, by a series of challenges, denials and intentional violations of the Constitution, against the backdrop of the irresistible desire to concentrate all powers in the hands of a single man in defiance of the republican pact that cemented the cohesion of our people,” declared Joseph Kabila.
In the same speech, Kabila also denounced several evils that are being perpetrated and damaging the the country including corruption and the embezzlement of public funds by government officials under Tshisekedi.
