The leading opposition in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Ensemble Pour la Republique party has condemned imposter president Félix Tshisekedi and government’s continued unlawful search of its leader, Moïse Katumbi’s private properties.
Tshisekedi has over the past weeks repeatedly sent government authorities and forces to Katumbi’s residence to conduct, without authorization, searches and surveillance at Katumbi’s properties.
The Ensemble have since issued a statement to denounce the conduct by Tshisekedi and his state agents for harassing Katumbi and his family even while he remains away from the DR Congo.
The party describes Tshisekedi and the government’s conduct as a serious danger and threat to the public.
“By its [perquisitions ] repeated acts of violation of the Constitution and laws of the country, disregarding the rights and freedoms of citizens, exacerbating the multiform crisis hitting the Congolese nation, the regime of Mr. Felix TSHISEKEDI has become a public danger,” the party’s statement reads.
Last week, Tshisekedi ordered the deployment of Congo Armed Forces (FARDC) elements at Katumbi’s Futuka farm in Kipushi, Haut-Katanga Province after reports surfaced that the opposition leader had returned to the country.
