The Democratic Republic of Congo’s civil service could be on its way to shutting down completely as workers say enough is enough and demand for payment of their salary arrears.
Municipal councillors in Kinshasa are the latest to go on a strike joining teachers and doctors in demand for payment of their emoluments by government.
The councillors took to the streets of Kinshasa on Monday to express their displeasure with government’s failure to pay their salaries for over five months.
They also demand for improved working conditions before resuming their duties.
