Ensemble Pour la Republique party leader Moïse Katumbi has refuted false claims by his political detractors who have accused him of backing Rwanda and Uganda in their invasions of the DR Congo’s territory.
Speaking in an interview with the Jeune Afrique, Katumbi has revealed he was among the first to condemn Rwanda and Uganda when they deployed their soldiers into DR Congo territory and called for the initiation of the ongoing peace talks mediated by Angola.
“I was among the first to ask Angola to get involved, and I have always condemned the presence of Rwandan and Ugandan soldiers,” Katumbi said.
The former Katanga region governor further reiterated his stance against any attacks on the Congolese territory and those who championing the war in east for selfish interests.
“They have no place on our soil. We must condemn the actions of Kigali and Kampala if we want a solution to be found. I will never accept that my country be attacked, and I will not accept that some people use this war to enrich themselves,” he added.
