SAVE FATSHI’S MANDATE: National Deputies Call For Peace in the UDPS to Avoid Tshisekedi’s Premature End

National Deputies in the ruling UDPS party have appealed to senior members to restore harmony in the party to avoid a premature end to President Félix Tshisekedi’s mandate as leader of the DR Congo.

Confusion has engulfed the UDPS party with members divided over the leadership of Tshisekedi and General Secretary Augustin Kabuya.

A vote of no confidence has already been signed against Kabuya with the idea of removing Tshisekedi from the head of the party also gaining momentum recently.

National Deputies now call for peace to support Tshisekedi’s second term in office before he loses the confidence of the Congolese population.

“They must realize that this is the flagship party of the Sacred Union and that they must support the Head of State. We advise them to put their ego aside to carry out what they have started,” a representative of the National Deputies said.

“Where there are humans, there are always problems, and there can be solutions. The solution can also be, I am not saying the departure of Augustin Kabuya, but a consensus around the problems that upset. Those who disavowed SG Kabuya raised relevant questions, but Kabuya retorted by saying that these are lies. Within a political party, there are always bodies that resolve all the problems. So, it is important that they all refer to these bodies to be able to find a solution, because at the moment, it is the flagship party of power.”

The national executive of the UDPS continue to demand the resignation of Augustin Kabuya from his post as secretary general.
